Wijkz is the welfare organization in The Hague, active in seven districts of The Hague where we work together with residents on a liveable city.
Wijkz offers individual support via our Service Points XL if you have a request for help. People who have a question about care, work, money, housing or loneliness, are welcome.
Wijkz offers several kind of support
Kinderwerk (working with kids)
Children who have a hard time at home often also do not feel well at school and in their free time. For them, a safe place in their neighborhood makes the difference. Kinderwerk offers that place. Professional child workers give these children the attention they often get nowhere else, and they support their parents in raising them. In doing so, they work together with a large number of chain partners.
Jongerenwerk (youth work)
Sooner or later, every child and every young person will have to make important choices: you want to finish school, look for a job, make friends or find an internship. You are discovering who you are and what you like. That is not always easy. Especially if things are not always easy at home or there is a lot of crime in the area where you live. You can contact us. To listen to you or to help you with school, with work, with making friends or with home.
Opbouwwerk (Helping the neighborhood)
What is needed to make a neighborhood nicer, safer and more social? Residents themselves often know this best. For example, one neighborhood needs more activities, for young people or for the elderly. In the other neighborhood there may be problems with nuisance or street litter. Or are you unable to get something done at the municipality or housing association. Our community workers detect these kinds of questions and problems so that we can work on them together.
Maatschappelijk werk (Social Work)
Have a problem or concern? Can't figure it out yourself? Social work supports you, for example, with mourning, loneliness, relationship problems or divorce, but also with practical or financial questions. The social worker listens, guides, advises and can help you further.
Ouderenwerk (Helping Elderly)
The range of facilities and schemes for the elderly is extensive. A lot is possible in the areas of housing, welfare, care and finances. The elderly worker can explore with you what options there are for your personal situation. Together we will look for a solution that suits your personal situation. If you wish, the elderly worker will make a home visit.
Vrijwilligerswerk (Volunteering work)
We like to work with volunteers who, together with us, are committed to supporting other residents, young and old. Every year, around 1,500 people can be deployed as volunteers for Wijkz. These volunteers all use their own talents and interests to support other residents.
