Youth NGOs

The Open Youth Work Sliedrecht Foundation (SOJS) has been around since 1968 and focuses on all Sliedrecht children and young people aged 6 to 26 years. The foundation is managed by a youth self-government and has its office in the building of its youth center Elektra in Sliedrecht.

The aim of the foundation is to develop and maintain activities that enable young people to make their own contribution to the development of society, whereby the activities are tailored to the specific needs of the young people.

The SOJS professional team consists of youth workers Jordi Melkert and Arwin Troost, ambulant youth worker Sanne van Steenis, combination officer for sports and culture Michael Groen and combination officer for culture Marloes Vriens. They are assisted by weekend manager Rob Verheij.

Among the youth workers, the focus is mainly on young people aged 12 to 26 and are involved in, among other things: receiving young people in the youth center, coordination of the working groups and Poppodium Elektra, youth assistance, ambulatory youth work, and organizing activities within and outside the youth center.

The combination officer (CF) for sport and culture is responsible for encouraging young people aged 6 to 14 in the fields of sport and culture. Based on this objective, the CF organizes various projects and activities in collaboration with schools, sports associations, care and welfare institutions.
